The academy inspires a movement to transform the culture of how we CARE. The presence of healthy, caring, and enthusiastic healthcare professionals directly affects the hospital and clinical environment and supports patient healing and positive health outcomes. Heart First Medicine Academy goes beyond the classroom and labs to teach practices and principles on developing your “Heartset” for a thriving and rewarding medical practice.
Whether we chose to acknowledge or address it, the fact is the practice of medicine is personal, yet we are choosing to automate as many processes around care and have lost touch with the basic elements that make it most effective, meaningful, and sustainable. Advances in technology are amazing, however, the way healthcare professionals are coping and managing care defaults to becoming depersonalized and desensitized in order to “get the work done,” survive at the end of the day, and get paid. What is this way of practice costing us individually and collectively as a system? The true ROI become issues of patient and practitioner safety, medical errors, burnout, depression, loss of self, and sadly suicide.

Healthcare delivery has departed from the meaning of the word healthcare. The integrity of our healthcare culture in practice has compromised its values and the heart of care is fractured leaving many healthcare professionals to struggle and adapt to keep it together. The consequences are serious and widespread, yet, I know in my heart there is a better way forward.

I am a healer and warrior at heart and believe that inspiration is the missing piece in healthcare. With 25 years as a physical therapist in rehabilitative therapy, I am ready and committed to imparting my decades of knowledge, experiences, and insights on a new generation of healthcare professionals to help lift and shift the culture of how we care and put the CARE back into healthcare.
Heart First Medicine Academy will offer classes and programs that teach principles and practices on developing “Heartset” and how to ignite the human spirit and nourish the soul.
